Looking for an ad for this from 1929.  Only seeing various 1927 ads so far.
Are the hands, although easily changed, more 1927'ish than 1929'ish?

I sure don't see any date code on movement, and Jabs had watch in hand to check, so one must not be there.

I think I see a square date code. Go to the winding staff, you see the number 2363, go left, two screws, left of the screw I see a square. Also this case serial starting with 97 is identified by me as being from 1927.

That does look like a square to me.

Gang, while I agree that the movement serial number method of dating movement is probably right, we have been using the newer of the two dates from either first digit of case serial number or movement for dating complete watches  (for 1924 through 1948ish).

We now have a confirmed Square date stamp on movement. But we also have a case serial number starting with a "9" . It appears the overall method is a good one, however there are specific years for which the relationship is strongest. 1927 is one of those years.

We need to decide which method we will use for dating complete watch, and when we will use it.  To be consistent.

Perhaps this is a discussion for a forum post?

Will OK, I'll wait to we can agree, but according to the former methodology I probably stayed on the year of manufacture watches 1929
