I'm a collector only, I will consult with my Watchmaker, Shawn Bourget on what should be done to preserve this timepiece and the 20 other 1925 to 1930 Bulova watches that are going to be restored. I would like to complete a collection of 1924 to 1930 Bulova mens watches. All of the watches I have acquired will be family heirlooms. I have about 30 Bulovas in excellent restored condition so far. I'm not into photography & have been using the sellers pictures for all of my watches. I think I'll have to learn to do some photography, so that all can enjoy our horological history.
Any suggestions?

Wayne, very jealous of your collection and of those in youir family set in inherit :-)
I guess most modern digital cameras will do, but you'll need one that has a 'macro' feature. This way you can get some real nice close up photos of the dials and movements.
I love a good photo of a beautiful vintage watch.

Notice that in the 1924 ads the President is the only rectangular shaped watch & depicts a plain bezel. In 1925 Bulova introduced an engraved rectangular President No other 1925 watch matched the size & shape of the engraved President case. So after aquiring this 1925 President, process of elimination indicated my watch matches the size & shape of the President case in the 1925 ads. In addition this President has the same engraving pattern as the square shaped Executive. I believe the ad is grossly in error on the engraving pattern. Shown below is the long & the short of it.

President seems to be 17J, the watch in question is 15J.
As the serial number is pretty early, this maybe one of the ealier movements that only used 15.
Only other watches similar during this time that I can think of are the Senator and Executive, but both of those are square. The one is certainly rectangular. I can't find anything else rectangular other than the Presidents.
The fact that this President does not have a 17 jewel movement as reflected in the ad is very puzzling. I cannot find any reference to a 17 jeweled 9A movement. The movement database does not list a 9A 17j movement. Does anybody have a 17j 9A movement?
Same as above on my 1925 Executive 9A movement.
(Top Ad) 39734 Ad (1925) looks like its a President by 1926 (Bottom Ad), but Wayne's watch case (Center) doesn't match the ads very closely....and the jewel count differs.

Back in May 2011, we didn't have that many ads on site. I don't think the "process of elimination to the only rectangular ad we have on site is President" holds true now.
