Thanks Admin for continuing to work on the extremely useful (in development) "Model Search" feature found on the main vintage ads homepage. One can chose the model name and get a return for numerous ads showing this model in a single search! Great feature. I did a search for the generic "Goddess of Time" and it returned 35 ads which mentioned this series. Is that cool.
There are several ads for variants of "Goddess of Time" listed in the dropdown menu, and if you search by variant, it returns those ads in one place. I found four ads for "Goddess of Time A". It looks like the variant ad search isn't included in the generic model search results, but that is be addressed allowing the user to select more than one model for the search. Or it could be tweaked to where if one searches for the generic "Goddess of Time" they would get all ads for this watch and its variants listed in one screen.
Thanks again Stephen, for your continued dedication to Bulova history and model ID'ing! What a great feature!
DarHin We can search multiple models/variants in the watch database, just not in the ad database. To search for more than one model, just hold down the shift key and select more than one model in the dropdown list. This will get what you mention above....and of course, you can bracket the search by the other terms.
It would be great to have that same multiple search functionality in the vintage ad search some day too, but for now, I'm so happy we have the (in development) function working!!
I have taken the suggestions on board and have updated the search facility to now allow multiple models to be selected. Just hold down the CTRL key and select those models you wish to include in your search.
I am now starting to also include the generic name when indexing these adverts.
