Caseback removal

Hi, I found a Bulova at a flea market and I want to take the case back off to check its condition. My question is, how do I get the casback off? There is the notches that suggest it's a screw down but I can't unscrew it no matter how hard I try. Anybody know how to get this off?

It may be a locking ring with notches or may be a solid caseback with notches, but either way, the best and proper way is to use a case wrench. It is very easy to damgae the case backs trying to open them with any other kind of tool. Sometimes you can use an Horo-Ball (Just a rubber ball that grips the case back) but this does not work if it is a locking ring with static case back.

Best way to know would be to take it to a watchmaker. You can find watchmakers in your area on teh NAWCC website.
