8AM / AZ MOVEMENT PART REQUIRED

Submitted by saltertonoldtimer on February 9, 2015 - 11:19am

Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum and wondering if anyone out there can help me. I live in the UK and restore vintage Bulovas as a very enjoyable semi-retirement occupation. I need a yolk spring for an 8AM (the part is the same one on the 8AZ). If anyone has one of these movements with this part intact, could you please message me and let me know your price to include shipping to the UK? Thank you - and I look forward to sharing information with you again soon. Regards, Peter

Hello Peter. I will take a look in my inventory today and see if I can help.

Sorry Peter, I don't have any of the movements but I have a very large collection of the yoke springs that are unlabeled. If you know what it looks like and can find it in the bunch, I will send them to you and if you find one or not just send the rest back to me. There will be no charge for the spring if you can find one in the bunch.

Hi John

Sorry for the late reply but we are way from home for the next couple of days. Thanks for taking the trouble to search for me. When we get back, I'll see if I can find the original broken 8AM yolk so that we've got something to check against and will get back to you again then.

Many thanks again for your kind help.

Kind regards

Peter

I will check my stuff and see if I have a yolk and if so I will send it with the springs.

Sorry, I have almost every yolk possible but no 8AM. The closest I have is an 8AL which won't work.

If you find the broken one let me know and I will be happy to send you the springs to try.

Hi John

Sorry for the late reply. As I previously said, I am new to this forum and when I set up the mybulova account I checked the box to be alerted whenever I receive a message, but this doesn’t seem to be happening. I have to remember to log on to check. Please let me know if there is anything else I need to do in order to be alerted to relevant messages.

I can’t thank you enough for your kind offer to send a selection of yolks, etc. for me to try out. However, I feel this might be a long shot finding one in there that fits, given that I understand the 8AM to be a relatively rare movement. It’s not as if you’re just round the corner - you must be over 3,000 miles away! I really don’t wish to put you to that amount of trouble on this one so for the moment I’ll keep looking on eBay until a suitable donor movement comes available.

I will certainly be in touch again if and when we can establish that you definitely have a part I’m looking for and I would then insist on paying you for the part and your costs shipping it to me.

I was interested to read your resumé, and your circumstances for indulging in this great subject of Bulovas is not dissimilar to my own. I saw that you have acquired a large selection of NOS balances complete. I am always interested in these to fit 7, 8 and 10 ligne Bulovas mostly, so if you’re looking to sell any, just let me know exactly what you have and the sort of price you’re looking at per unit. You’d also need to include international shipping to the UK.

Good luck with everything and I look forward to talking to you again in the future.

Kind regards

Peter

Thanks Peter. I sell to others in the UK and it has always worked out fine.

I have brand new old stock 7AK and 10AK balance completes and they are $25.00 US for each. The price may sound a little high but for NOS parts of this type it is actually a little low. I sell them to non mybulova members for $35 each.

Thanks, John

I am actually OK for 7AK and 10AK/BM balances for the time being, but I will certainly come back to you when I need more - or any other specific parts that I can’t find among my ever increasing hoard of Bulova movements.

Best wishes to you and thanks again for all your offers of help.

Regards

Peter
