How does one let down the mainspring on a 8AC,series of watches.
Thank You for the help.
James
First , you must remove the movement/dial from the case.
Next , you must face the movement. Hold it in one hand AND put a small amount of tension on the winding stem/crown with the same hand.
With a tooth pick or other pointed tool ( don't mark or scratch the movement ) release the click which is located in the small kidney shaped cutout in the barrel bridge.
Holding the click in the disengaged position ,( the click spring will want to push it back into position) let the crown slip through your fingers until the mainspring lets down.
Sounds difficult , but you'll get the hang of it.
I'm afraid I don't know what " pin " you are referring to.
Could you tell me were it is relative to the balance wheel when the balance is at the bottom and the winding stem is at the top? Right?Upper and to the left?etc.
If I knew what feature you were looking at , I may be able to help you.
